Early Years Curriculum Statement
Early Years Intent / Vision:
All Saints Primary School are passionate and dedicated in providing our children with the best possible start to their learning. EYFS is a fundamental stepping stone within their educational journey through ensuring solid foundations are achieved in all areas of learning, so that children become life-long motivated learners. Our EYFS settings aims to nurture a safe, loving and inclusive environment where every child is valued and celebrated as an individual. At All Saints, we emphasise building positive and secure relationships with all children and families to ensure the best possible outcomes.
The EYFS team recognise that all children are unique and acknowledge and promote children’s interests to provide them with opportunities to follow their imagination and creativity and to promote their curiosity for the natural world around them. Through a careful balance of adult-led, child-led and child-initiated experiences, activities, enhancements and provision based on topics, stories, celebrations, events and interests, we aspire for all children to flourish and succeed.
We recognise prior learning as a starting point and utilise real-life experiences to enhance and make learning opportunities meaningful to enable all to achieve the best of their abilities.

Julia Donaldson (Reception)
Our Reception class consists of up to 30 children of reception age. Reception have access to our wonderful outdoor area and roomy indoor classroom. With carefully planned activities that encompass children’s needs and interests, we ensure that children develop their love for learning and build firm foundations for future learning. Reception embraces Early Years values of learning through play and enjoyment whilst preparing children for their next steps. We embrace all children by meeting t he needs of individuals and embracing the opportunities that are provided by our curriculum.

Eric Carle (Nursery)

Across our EYFS we follow the Early Years Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage published by the DfES. This framework specifies the requirement for learning and development within the EYFS and provides 7 areas of learning that we assess children on throughout their time in EYFS.
The Learning and Development Requirements outline seven areas of learning and development. All the areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected but Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development are priority areas, these are known as The Prime Areas. Children need to be confident in these areas in able to achieve in other areas of learning and life skills.
Development Matters at All Saints:

Children learn and develop more from birth to five years old than at any other time in their lives. If children are at risk of falling behind the majority, the best time to help them to catch up and keep up is in early years. Every child can make progress, if they are given the right support.
When we give every child the best start in their early years, we give them what they need today. We also set them up with every chance of success tomorrow.
This EYFS Development Matters document includes non-statutory curriculum guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Although, this information is non-statutory, it is a highly informative resource, designed to help practitioners working with early years children. This Development Matters, EYFS document contains a clear overview of the ways in which practitioners can support children's learning and development through various ages and stages. The EYFS Development Matters document also contains detailed information on the seven key features of effective practice and the characteristics of effective teaching and learning. The document is split into the EYFS seven areas of learning to make it extra easy to read, plan, and find relevant information. This EYFS guidance comes in conjunction with the EYFS Framework—the statutory guidance needed for practitioners to support teaching and learning in early years settings.
